The Power of Now- first book/writing club!
We need this right now more than words. This new class is a book club meets writers group. What we are facing at this moment in history is monumental. We are watching our dreams, hopes, bodies, and quite literally our lives be trivialized and politicized. It’s very hard to unsee and hear what is being screamed at us daily- be small, obedient, and get back in line.
I’ll speak for myself in saying I lay awake at night in deep pain. I worry constantly about the future and then get enraged. The toll this has taken on me, and us as a gender, is enormous. There is no way to fight this at the moment.
So what do we do?
If you know me then you know I’m not going to give up pushing for equality for women- EVER! Living Rebelliously is the answer that I’ve come up with right now. Living rebelliously means being in joy, in flow, in art, in LIFE- fully! What better way than with community taking apart the most powerful book I’ve ever read, The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Even if you’ve read the book before (I read on repeat) NOW is the time to take a deep dive together with like-minded women. We will take apart the chapters, discuss them, and then write from writing prompts. With the help of Eckhart guiding us to what actually matters, the present moment, we can REMEMBER that the powerlessness that we currently feel is the illusion they want us to believe. Come remind yourself who you are!!!
Class breakdown -
Week 1: Introduction and Chapters 1 & 2
• You Are Not Your Mind – Freeing yourself from disempowering thoughts.
• Consciousness: The Way Out of Pain – Understanding the pain-body and how ancestral pain impacts women.
Focus: Observing how societal and internalized narratives limit women and celebrating moments of strength, and exploring the inherited pain-body and releasing its grip.
Week 2: Chapters 3 & 4
• Moving Deeply into the Now – Finding joy and power in presence.
• Mind Strategies for Avoiding the Now – Releasing perfectionism, fear, and distraction.
Focus: Cultivating joy by fully inhabiting the moment and letting go of the mental traps that steal presence.
Week 3: Chapters 5 & 6
• The State of Presence – Using presence to celebrate your unique power.
• The Inner Body – Honoring your body as a source of wisdom and joy.
Focus: Recognizing the body as a sacred ally in reclaiming joy and personal power.
Week 4: Chapters 7 & 8
Themes:
• Portals into the Unmanifested – Discovering peace and joy in stillness.
• Enlightened Relationships – Building joyful, equal, and empowering connections.
Focus: Using stillness to uncover joy and transforming relationships to reflect mutual respect and shared power.
Week 5: Chapters 9 & 10
• Beyond Happiness and Unhappiness There Is Peace – Finding joy in acceptance and peace within the fight.
• The Meaning of Surrender – Surrendering to your innate strength and trusting your path.
Focus: Embracing joy as a form of resistance and surrendering to the beauty and power of your authentic self.
This is a 5-week online gathering of empowerment, community, writing, and expression.
